Law enforcement officers will saturate  county   roads Friday and Saturday, looking for impaired drivers.

The Jackson County Traffic Safety Task Force and Cass County Safety Traffic Enforcement programs will participate as part of a statewide crackdown on drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“It’s never worth the risk to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp said in a statement. “Drivers could lose their license, pay large fines, or worst of all, cause a tragic loss of life.”

Sharp gives the following tips:
Don’t drink if you plan on driving.
Encourage safe driving behaviors among family and friends.
Choose a designated driver before going out.
Take mass transit or a taxicab or ask a friend to drive you home.
Report impaired drivers to law enforcement.
Always wear a safety belt.
