Jewel Parish, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away at Sunrise, September 28, 2011, at Centerpoint Medical Center.


Jewel was born February 20, 1925, in Gasconade, Missouri, the son of Jesse F. and Nora B. (Risner) Parish. He was employed by Universal Construction, retiring in 1987 and was a member of Labors Local 264 for 66 years. Jewel was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of FOE 385, and a Deacon, proudly serving at the Stone Church for many years.  He was a life long resident of this area and tilled many a garden.

Jewel was a loving husband of 48 years to Milberta Parish, of the home. Also surviving are three children, Debra (Roy) Barmore, Julie (David) Evans and Ron Parish; five grandchildren, Wes, Jason, Brad, Chris and Shelly; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda (Fred) Fischer; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2011, at New Salem Funeral Home.  Burial in New Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., prior to the service at New Salem chapel.
