To the editor:

Just wanted to say thanks to John Meyer for his letter to the editor concerning the fake war record of Warren Parker (The Examiner, last Friday, “Shame for a fake war record”). These were my exact feelings at the time the information was revealed. I lost my brother in the Vietnam War in 1968 at the age of 21. I also served in the National Guard for 10 years, but at no time did I ever think or pretend my service compared with those who served in the combat areas of Vietnam or any overseas assignment.

Concordia, my hometown, lost three boys during the war, and they continue to this day honoring and remembering their service. I also had several friends from there who served in combat areas. Many of their stories are just now coming out. I pray that Mr. Parker recognizes the impact this decision had on many lives. Thanks again, John, for your letter.
