Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered flags at half-staff on Saturday in honor of Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, who died earlier this month in Aghanistan.

The order applies to state office buildings, but it is customary for all of those who fly the flag to follow along. In addition, flags are at half-staff for a full week in Clay County, from Saturday through May 31.

Rhea, 33, lived in Kansas City. He was assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 530th Military Police Battalion, 300th Military Police Brigade, 200th Military Police Command, U.S. Army Reserve in Belton. Among his citations and honors were the Bronze Star and the Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star. He drowned May 15 during combat operations in Kandahar Province.
