An Independence woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a traffic crash in Platte County.

Sherri R. Berry, 48, was stopped in traffic on the ramp leading from Missouri 152 to northbound Interstate 29 about 5:50 a.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The patrol reported that while Berry sat there in her 2007 Toyota, a vehicle driven by a Kansas City man struck her car from behind. The driver of that 1991 Ford was Justin A. Wakefield, 22. The patrol report said Berry’s injuries were serious, but did not list injuries for Wakefield. Berry was buckled in; Wakefield was not.

Berry was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital on Barry Road.
