Although the girls high school soccer season has ended for all the local squads, soccer fans in Eastern Jackson County will still have a chance to see the state’s best teams battle in this weekend’s Missouri State High School Championships.

For the second consecutive year, Blue Springs and Blue Springs South high schools will host the Class 1, 2 and 3 final fours.

The action begins at 1 p.m. today with a Class 1 semifinal match between second-ranked St. Pius X (Festus) (22-3) and No. 7 Springfield Catholic (14-10-1) at Blue Springs South's Larry Stewart Memorial Stadium. Third-ranked O’Hara (18-3) and No. 5 Duchesne (13-9) will follow at 3 p.m.

The Class 2 bracket will start at 2 p.m. at Peve Stadium at Blue Springs High School. No. 7 Rosati-Kain of St. Louis will meet eighth-ranked Helias Catholic (16-8) of Jefferson City followed by a battle of unbeatens as No. 1 St. Dominic (24-0-1) of O'Fallon faces second-ranked Kearney (26-0) at 4 p.m.

At 5 p.m., the Class 3 semifinals begin at South with third-ranked Eureka (20-1-1) taking on Nixa (23-3). Then the top two ranked teams in the state take the field at 7 p.m. as No. 1 St. Joseph’s Academy (18-2) meets No. 2 St. Teresa’s Academy (17-2).

The championship matches will be held Saturday at South with the Class 1 match starting at noon, Class 2 at 2 p.m. and Class 3 at 4 p.m. The Class 1 third-place contest will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday at South, while Peve at Blue Springs will host the Class 2 and 3 third-place games at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively.

The tournament typically draws between 6,000 and 8,000 people. Tickets for each session are $7.
