Charles “Rex” Richey, 73, Independence, Missouri, passed away March 27, 2011.  

Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO, followed by committal services at 3 p.m., Thursday at Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud, KS.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions to John Knox Hospice, 400 N.W. Murray Rd., Ste. 237, Lee’s Summit, MO  64081.

Rex was born November 2, 1937, in White Cloud, KS, and graduated from Reserve (KS) High School.  He began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad at age eighteen and retired from there in 1994.  He was a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #47, Kansas City, MO.  He enjoyed gardening, traveling and especially his family.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Richey, and brother Keith Richey.  

He is survived by daughters Diana Schwalbach and husband, Darrell, Omaha, NE; Terry Cleary and husband, Gary, Holt, MO; Tammy McMahan and husband, Tom, Pleasant Hill, MO; sister Connie Sailors, Aurora, NE; brother Kenny Richey, Falls City, NE; grandchildren Travis, Kyle, Carson, Randi and husband, Jake, Shane and wife, Kelsey, Stefan and wife, Colby, and Rachel; and special friend Sandy O’Neal, Independence, MO.
