James E. McConchie, M.D. F.A.C.R., 94, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2011, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1400 W. Shelly Rd, Independence, MO 64052. Family will greet friends prior to the service starting at 9 a.m.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or Kansas City Hospice, 14500 E. 42nd St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery.

James was born March 20, 1917, in Washington, KS, to James Edwin and Bertha (Johnston) McConchie. He graduated from the University of Kansas Medical School. During WWII, he served as Captain with KU’s 77th Evacuation Hospital as a radiologist. Dr. McConchie served Independence and the surrounding area for 38 years at the Independence Sanitarium. He was an active and faithful member of the church and a member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say in the Boy Scouts of America.

James is survived by his children, James W. McConchie and wife, Kathleen, Robert McConchie and wife, Carolyn, Roger McConchie and wife, Blythe, M. ZoAnn McConchie and Robert Schmitz, Ruth McConchie; daughter-in-law, Cynthia McConchie; step-daughter, Patricia Corrington and husband, Robert; step-son, Richard Rowe and wife, Pat; grandchildren, Karen and Bill Grace, Scott, Cheryl and Laura McConchie, Alan and Kristina McConchie, Andrea and Colin Chaddock; step-grandchildren, Cynthia, Michael, Matthew and Shayna Overstreet; great-grandchildren, Emily and Anna Grace, Chelbi Walk, Caleb Scarborough; step-great-grandchildren, Isabel, Trysten and Sarah Overstreet; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Margaret (Whiteford) McConchie, Marie (Jones) McConchie, Virginia (Pulley) McConchie; son, Richard McConchie; sister, Edwina Hatter.
